The estate dates from the latter part of the 17th century. In 1850 a religious brotherhood called Cofradia de la Purisima Concepción (Brotherhood of the Purest Conception) was founded. Its members dedicated themselves to the cultivation of the tequila plant or agaves.
The hotel is located inside of this tequila hacienda, La Cofradia, just three minutes from the center of the town of Tequila.
It is surrounded by a landscape of planted agaves, and was recently appointed to the "Patrimony of Humanity." It forms part of the tequila route, because it is located near to the towns that form this route, such as Teuchitlán, El Arenal, Amatitan, Tequila and Magdalena.
The municipality of Tequila, Jalisco, is located 65 kilometers from the city of Guadalajara. It may be reached by the following:
Maxipista (toll road): Guadalajara-Tepic-Puerto Vallarta (the short route)
Federal route No. 15, México-Nogales.
Long distance and local bus lines are also available.
El hotel Boutique La Cofradia is located on a highway linked to the maxipista. Since it is situated only three minutes from Tequila's center, you may easily get to know all of the town's tourist attractions.
The tequila hacienda within which the hotel La Cofradia is located, offers daily, guided tours, sharing with visitors the interesting process of making the beverage.
You may also join an evening tour for guests as well as the general public entitled "Tour of the Senses". You experience getting to know the history and present situation surrounding the beverage by way of the five senses.
Our guests are also offered six different activities, from which they may select two per day, each of which is involved with the real process of making tequila. In these activities you become involved as workers, learning the methods of preparing this famous beverage.

- In the months of December and January we suggest you bring warmer clothing.
- In general, the evenings can be cool, so it's best to bring a sweater at any time of the year.

- A reservation is considered complete when you have your confirmation number and have left a guarantee with credit card data which you also authorize us to use in the case of a "no-show" or failure to adhere to our the cancellation policies.
- Cancellations must be made five days prior to your arrival date. Otherwise, 10% of the total amount of the reservation will be charged to your credit card.
- In case of a "no show", a charge will be made to your credit card equivalent to one night
- In case of a "no show" during holidays such as Christmas, New Years, Holy Week or long weekends, the charge to your card will be the complete amount of your reservation.
