Casa Rural San Bernardo Hotel & SPA

The design for the building was created in 2005. Construction was completed in 2006, the same year in which the house was inaugurated.

Rancho San Bernardo is located in Tapalpa, one of Jalisco's Magical Towns. It is next to a lake and surrounded by forests and marvelous views. With a singular architectonic style, utilizing native materials from the region, the building is a stunning example of Mexican contemporary architecture.

The inspiration for the design took into consideration the way of life as well as the needs of the owners, while taking advantage of the amazing views as well as the orientation and topography of the property.

San Bernardo includes the main house with its generous spaces and spectacular entrance framing the mountains with large walls covered with finely split flagstones and a fountain measuring four yards in circumference on the orange tree patio. The terrace serves as a distribution zone leading to the private areas of the home as well as to the public areas.

The Lavender Patio is central to the eight bedrooms that feature wooden floors and six bathrooms with luxury detailing.
The Master Suite, with bedroom, TV viewing area, private terrace, closets and bath with Jacuzzi, is located on a lower level with absolute privacy.

A common room includes a pool table, fireplace, terrace, bar and TV area.

A large terrace with a dining area for up to 24 persons is located on the lower level, adapting itself to the natural surroundings. The spacious kitchen, built in the traditional Mexican style, includes all the necessary modern equipment required to make it both functional and institutional. This is where we prepare and bottle our marmalades labeled: "De la cocina de San Bernardo" and where we package the honey that is produced on our property.

Lovely gardens with a variety of flowers, such as the lavender that serves as food for the bees, surround the principal house. In addition San Bernardo contains a chapel, pond, henhouses, gardens and orchards that provide a steady harvest of fresh eggs as well as lettuce, blue berries and vegetables.

San Bernardo offers all that is needed to ensure a visit both comfortable and pleasant, wrapped in the magic of a landscape where the mountains, the meadows, the lake, the birds and the village of Tapalpa are joined together in perfect harmony.
